For The Ghost Inside’s Searching for Solace Tour, I designed a tour poster that visually encapsulates the band’s themes of resilience, introspection, and perseverance. The artwork needed to feel heavy, introspective, and deeply symbolic—something that would resonate with the band’s dedicated fanbase. The final design features a surreal maze-like structure within a human head, symbolizing the struggle to find clarity and meaning in life’s challenges, aligning with the emotional core of The Ghost Inside’s music.
(MY APPROACAH)
I approached this project with a concept-first mindset, ensuring the artwork didn’t just look intense but held real meaning. The maze represents the mental and emotional journey many people navigate, a theme that aligns perfectly with The Ghost Inside’s story of overcoming adversity. I used a combination of textured stippling, deep shadows, and moody color contrasts to reinforce the raw and emotional energy of the design.
(VISION & INNOVATION)
The goal was to create something that felt powerful, immersive, and visceral. Rather than relying on traditional skull or fire motifs often seen in metal and hardcore artwork, I wanted this piece to feel psychologically intense. The cracked surface of the figure’s head, the glowing red accents, and the mountainous, desolate background contribute to a sense of weight and introspection, reinforcing the tour’s themes.
(CHALLENGES)
A major challenge was ensuring the artwork retained its detail and impact at multiple sizes and formats. Tour posters need to be versatile—viewed from a distance on walls, up close as collectibles, and in digital promotions. Balancing intricate textures with strong readability was key. Additionally, the tour dates had to be integrated seamlessly without overwhelming the visual hierarchy of the piece.
(PROBLEMS)
Early versions of the artwork leaned too abstract, making it difficult to communicate the intended message. Through refinement, I ensured the maze was clearly readable and that the composition drew focus to the emotional weight of the imagery. Another issue was maintaining high contrast in darker tones, as too much detail was getting lost in shadows. Careful lighting and texture adjustments ensured the final version remained bold and legible across all mediums.
(USER-CENTRIC DESIGN)
This poster was designed with The Ghost Inside’s fans in mind—people who connect deeply with the band’s themes of resilience and personal growth. The design reflects their journey, offering a visual metaphor for overcoming obstacleswhile still fitting seamlessly within the band’s visual identity.
(USER NEEDS)
Fans wanted a striking, high-impact poster that felt worthy of a tour with deep personal meaning. The final piece is more than just a promotional tool—it’s a keepsake that embodies the spirit of the tour. Whether displayed on a wall, shared digitally, or collected as a memento, the design ensures that The Ghost Inside’s message and music continue to resonate long after the last show.
